Worldwide "School for Shroud Studies"

We offer an extensive one day study seminar on the Shroud of Turin given either on-site at TSC headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colorado or anywhere in the United
States or the world
by the directors
of TSC.
The School for Shroud Studies
was formed in 1994 in order to provide those who are interested
in learning more about the Shroud, but who live at distances far
removed from TSC in Colorado, with the opportunity to delve into
the complex and intriguing issues surrounding the Shroud. The
presentation has recently been converted to a computer-based projection system, which
allows great flexibility to explain visually a very complex subject.
This computer system allows the audience to focus in on many close-up
details of the Shroud and understand, by real-time visualizations
and simulations, important characteristics of the Shroud, which
otherwise can be quite abstract. What makes the School particularly
useful is the ability to interact with and ask questions directly
to the instructors.
TSC has developed an understanding
of the Shroud that is unique amongst Shroud Scholars and researchers,
but ideas that we believe are consistent with the totality of
all scientific and historic data that is currently available on
the Shroud. We have found nothing that is inconsistent with the
beliefs of traditional Christianity. Moreover, we find that the
Shroud, if authentic, enriches our understandings of Holy Thursday,
Good Friday, and Easter Sunday. Our research provides insights
as to how the Shroud was used by Christians during the First Millennium
of its history.
The philosophy of the school
is to back up each idea, concept, and conclusion with supporting
data and facts. We draw upon and integrate not only the research
work at TSC, but published work by other Shroud researchers as
well. We hope to inspire a respect for the Shroud in a scholarly
manner and to encourage students of our school to form their own
conclusions regarding this important subject.
We explore in-depth, using our new
computer-based presentational techniques, Shroud topics such as:
- History
(Direct, new (non-image based) archaeological evidence found
directly on the Shroud that it existed in Constantinople several
centuries before the radiocarbon date)
- 1978 Scientific Expedition (A review of the experiments performed and
conclusions reached)
- Image Formation
(Scientific problems with various hypotheses, TSC's hypothesis)
- Jewish Characteristics (Cultural and ethnic elements, burial customs,
TSC hypothesis that the Shroud was both burial cloth and tablecloth
of the Last Supper)
- Radiocarbon Dating (Result, problems in applying to the Shroud,
the road towards a resolution)
- Theology
(TSC concept that the Shroud was an archaeological witness to
Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday)
- Relation of Shroud to other relics
(Sudarium Domini of Oviedo, etc.)
- and more!
