In 1978 Dr. John Jackson, who heads the scientific team at TSC was the leader of the famous Shroud of Turin Research Project (STURP) that studied the Shroud in Turin, Italy for an unprecedented five days of continuous round the clock, state-of-the-art data acquisition. STURP research helped lead to worldwide interest in the Shroud that also led to additional scientific, forensic and historical research on the Shroud. Ten years later, in 1988, the Shroud was radiocarbon measured to be consistent with a medieval date, assuming no other forms of isotopic alteration. This dating subsequently led many people to conclude that the Shroud could not be a first century artifact related to Christ. However, using internal evidence contained on the Shroud, the scientific team at TSC has shown that a historically well-documented Shroud containing an image of Christ that was displayed in Constantinople - well before the date ascribed by radiocarbon dating - was, in fact, the Turin Shroud.

Based on these studies and continued research using STURP data TSC has ben lead to the critical judgment that the Shroud of Turin, including the re-sewn but once detached side strip, is what Peter and John encountered 2000 years ago in the empty Easter Tomb. We are thus led to the belief that everyone in our contemporary society should encounter and study for themselves the evidence for the Shroud's authenticity, and its scientific and theological significance. To this end, and to avoid misconceptions about the Shroud that might arise owing to the vast-- but uncorrelated-- amount of research that is available about the Shroud, TSC is pleased to offer a dedicated School for Shroud Studies. There are three (3) specific education goals that will be embraced by the the School for Shroud Studies:
